To Go or Not to Go is the Question

Our daughter is 6 yo and has Pervasive Developmental Disorder PDD with

mild retardation. She currently on her worst day has upwards around 15

tantrums for no apparent reason and that's during an activity that's

fun and she enjoys.

The other problem that we have with her is eating problems. She cannot

control her impulses to eat. If she sees food around (even while she

is eating) and it's not in front of her she will ask for it and throw

tantrums if she can't have it. When other people that are not part of

the household are around she doesn't throw tantrums but seeks out

constant attention from them. Usually they give it to her and when

they leave she throws huge tantrums because she wants them to stay and

give her that constant attention she just has to have.

My question for all of you is do you feel it right for family to insist

on us taking our child that has all of these problems to a big Catholic

wedding in a big Cathedral and then to a reception where there are

people around supposed to be focusing on the bride and not a child who

expects attention from everyone else? When they kknow and have seen the

actions of our child. She cannot sit still for more than 5 mins. She

constantly talks. I am at my whits end here with my family. They are

threatening to stop talking to me if I don't take her.
