Guest guest
I am on day 7 of my first brew- I have to tell you I made my husband try it first, because it is so weird looking (the SCOBY) and when his face lit up I had to try it. YUMM!! I understand now the tart flavor- too bad you can't drink lots of it! Anyway, so now I have questions. I want it to stay the way it is or not too different (or so I think at this point) but I just brewed the tea and it is cooling in the fridge. 1. Do I have to let the SCOBy sit where it is until I have a new brew for it to go in or what can I do? 2.How much starter needs to be taken from this brew for the next one? 3. Do I place the SCOBY on top of the new brew then put in starter or what order? 4. How thick should my new SCOBY be? My other one sank to the bottom so they are seperated. 5. Do I use both SCOBY's or just one in the new brew? 6.Bottling question: Can I just place in quart jars giving it about 1 " headspace? I do not have any other bottles like are usually mentioned- do I need to find some quickly or will this do? 7.Lastly, what are the advantages/disadvantages of refrigerating or leaving out? Thank you so much!!! Kari
