We have opened up a subacute unit in our acute care hospital. It is a 17

bed unit and is only an eight day stay. We offer PT OT seven days a week.

As of now Speech is on an as needed basis because we do not have many speech

patients admitted to the unit as of yet.

We just started PPS January 1 1999. We are very confused and have many

questions. Hopefully you can help. For patients that receive modalities

such as tens hotpacks, whirlpool, etc, do we charge for these modalities,

is it considered a treatment and does it then need to be calculated as

minutes of treatment which would then take time away from their allotted

treatment time. We are still billing on the same charge ticket that we bill

for our acute care patients. Should we be using a different form? If we

should be using a different form can someone please guide us or if possible

send a copy of a charge form.

Fax Number Thanks for any help or guidance. Carol.
