The closest I ever got was repairing TVs and VCRs for just above minimum wage, until new technology made my job obsolete. Did you ever have any luck in mechanical engineering? Guest guest
It's nice to know that I'm not the only person in the world who is extremely sensitive to noises that don't bother other people at all. I've been sensitive to noises such as eating, breathing, sniffing since I was about 14. Repetitive movements that I can only see from the corner of my eye, and certain touch sensations can cause the same reactions as noises at times. I don't really understand why this happens, just that it is so very annoying and it's a pretty good of annoying other people.
Guest guest
Hi and welcome! It is a relief to know you're not alone isn't it? I felt the same way when I found this place... I sat and cried because I realized I wasn't crazy nor alone. It really helps to share stories and vent here to people who actually get it. I also have visual triggers as do others here. Hopefully you will be able to find some things here that can help you cope with this condition. I am hoping to learn ways of coping, but having a place to vent at least is nice. Only today I got told off for turning the kitchen clock off and not putting it back up- it is annoying when people don't understand.
Guest guest
beginning to wonder if "sensitive" is really the right word, should be more like "allergic" To: Soundsensitivity From: louise.pascoe@...Date: Tue, 26 Aug 2008 14:11:45 +0000Subject: Re: I'm new here > >> > It's nice to know that I'm not the only person in the world who is > > extremely sensitive to noises that don't bother other people at all.> > > > I've been sensitive to noises such as eating, breathing, sniffing > since > > I was about 14. Guest guest
The idea of describing it as an allergy makes sense to me. Same with the analogy of the water fountain.. medium exposure so I get a little more used to the triggers sounds a lot better than full on exposure with no means of escape! > >> > It's nice to know that I'm not the only person in the world who is > > extremely sensitive to noises that don't bother other people at all.> > > > I've been sensitive to noises such as eating, breathing, sniffing > since > > I was about 14.
