You say this a lot.

When you're telling me to come

eat dinner while it's still hot.

You say it when I'm watching TV,

and when you want me to come in from play.

This may be an exaggeration,

but I think you say it every day!

Yes, I can hear you.

I'm not ignoring your plea.

But even though I hear you,

I don't think you hear me.

I want to do what you ask.

I really do want to obey.

But sometimes I just don't

understand the things that you say.

Please don't be angry with me.

I'm not trying to upset you.

I know you need me to listen,

but sometimes you need to listen, too.

There are so many thoughts

bouncing around inside my head.

I try to pull your voice out seperate,

but usually it gets lost instead.

So please be patient when you

feel that I'm ignoring you.

I'm only human, and sometimes

I make mistakes, too.
