Yes, when ever myself or my son gets even the slightest sniffles i

start with green tea. Either warm (which is comforting right now with

it being soo cold) or cold it has great antioxidants in it. Also the

tanines (and i know i spelled that wrong) are great natrual anti-

inflamitories so it helps with things like sore throats. PLus the

added liquid helps to flush the system out. I swear by green tea now

for any type of illness. I'm actually drinking some right now, due to

some of my family memebers having a cold, and tryign not to catch it

myself.

Green tea has a lot of benefits, not all i can recite right now,

cause can't remeber them all! LOL. But I tell you, i got sick with my

yearly cold/allergy sore throat and cough. I started drinking warm

green tea and by the next morning i felt 100% better, by 48 hrs past

my sore throat was gone. My dh got it, refused the green tea and he

is still trying to get over the nagging cough. My son spiked a fever

the friday prior to Christmas. I started him on green tea, adn by 5

AM the fever was gone compeletly, never to return. He was feeling

better the next day and never really got sick. I'd taken him to

urgent care (only cuase fever in him usually means ear infections.

But this time thankfully it was not. The doc said his throat looked

really really red, so he did a rapid strep test, which again,

thankfully came back negetive. ) I started green tea that night, and

the sore throat was gone by the next day! That's proof enough for me.

ANother thing that may help is called a Neti Pot. It is a small pot

used to flush out the sinus cavities. You put warm salt water in the

pot, then put the spout in one nostril. Lean forward a bit, and pour

the water into that side, allowing the water to flow up into your

upper sinuses, and come out the other nostril. do the other side as

well then blow your nose. It is supposed to really clean your

passages out, while moisturizing them as well. It is said that it

really helps allergies and the cold congestion you get. I'm thinking

seriously about trying one, as i have horrific allergies and am on an

atihistmine daily for it!
