Greetings -

I have been a member of this group for some months now -- though

mainly " lurking " in the background, mainly because my interest is in

specific treatments rather than in its emotional support aspects.

I run a small website development business using some neat site

management software that makes it easy for non-techies to keep the

site up to date and add content while maintaining its design integrity.

I've been coping with what you are now calling 4S or misophonia since

I was a teenager (I'm 51 now) and well understand what you're all

going through. I'm willing to donate my site design and hosting

services to create a site for the group if you are at all interested.

I want to stress that this is **not** a commercial solicitation but

rather a personal offer of time and resources. My only conditions are

that (a) we implement a thoroughly professional-looking design (sorry

-- the bunny ears won't cut it, besides which " cute " and " credible "

don't generally go together), (B) that others commit to maintaining

the content of the site and act as forum moderators (if a discussion

forum is part of the plan), © that any content added to the site be

consistent with an agreed upon standard formatting style of the site

(i.e., that it is CSS-driven, for those of you familiar with website

lingo), (d) that all involved understand that I may edit site content

as needed to ensure that the above standards are followed and to

correct errors in grammar, spelling and basic writing style and,

finally, (e) that there be a designated website " steering committee "

or something of the sort consisting of a small, manageable number of

people to make decisions about the development and administration of

the site (just so I don't lose my mind trying to satisfy a zillion

conflicting requests or demands.

I realize the above may seem slightly draconian to some, but it's

really nothing more than best practices in creating and maintaining a

quality website -- and protecting my own time and sanity. All too

often such things do not get spelled out at the get-go, with the

result that people later end up unproductively squabbling about minutiae.

Also realize (as is probably obvious to you by now) that I am a very

direct and blunt person. In communication among members of the

" steering committee " , site content authors/editors, or forum

moderators, if I think an idea is foolish or detrimental to the

quality of the site or its goals I will say so, albeit in a civil and

professional manner. In the context of a support group, it is

obviously necessary to tread lightly to be sensitive to the feelings

of less thick-skinned individuals, but the context of a website

management group is a different animal altogether. I would approach

the latter from a business/management perspective, and assume that

others will as well -- which to me means that we don't take frank,

albeit civil, criticism personally.

There now. With all that said, I'm really not a difficult and

unpleasant grouch, but I am a big believer in setting crystal clear

and reasonable ground rules and expectations up front.

If you're interested in taking me up on this, let me know. I had,

with the intent of doing something like this on my own at some point,

purchased the rights to the misophonia.net and soundsensitive.org

domain names and would consider contributing one of those to the cause.

Following are the URLs of some of the other websites I've done:

http://www.jaybirdholdings.com (in development)

http://www.irinabizyayeva.com (in development)

http://www.imbatech.org (dormant, but still up on the 'net, and not a

bad design.)
