Guest guest
My son is now almost 11. He is moderate to severe but has a high level of understanding. Question. My wife does not believe in punishing bad behaviors other than attempting to " pick it up " " go to your room " or " ignore the bad behavior " . I have against her will on a very few occaisions gave my son a " light spanking " . I have taken him by the shirt collar into his bedroom and swatted him with my hand 3-4 times. He gets very upset over this but it seems to get his attention and the problem behavior for the most part subsides. He is very aware that he has made me mad. My question is what would you do? Thanks to all you wonderful parents!!! Greg
Guest guest
Im sorry if I get mad mail, but I believe that any child learns by how he is treated. Especially with a child with autism it now has taught him how to react when he is mad. It is hard enough to teach them the right behavior, but to show bad behavior from you only enforces.
