Guest guest
Check out what you can do about Denis Leary.... Dear Subscribers: Another brilliant actor/comedian has offered up his take on autism.Dennis Leary has a new book coming out that offers the followingobservation about autism: "There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothersand competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kidscan't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy lapsof shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away thedeficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a whatthese crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He'sjust stupid. Or lazy. Or both." Unlike Savage, and other talk show hosts who have recentlybashed autism, his words actually appeared in his book, presumingthat he had the time to formulate, think through, and articulate hisopinion before spewing it all over the page. It's obvious why Learyand others like him have the opinions they do...ratings. Leary istying to boost sales and Savage was trying to generate ratings. Theydo this at the expense of our kids and our families. The more thesecomments proliferate, the more reluctant our society becomes toaccept individuals and families dealing with ASD. My son was diagnosed when he was three and has made unimaginableprogress. He's not a dumb-ass kid who can't compete. In fact, he'sonly seven and can probably do math at a higher level than Mr. Leary. To suggest that parents want this diagnosis is preposterous. Is thereany parent here who wished to a have child on the spectrum? Doesanyone enjoy the fun of enduring a meltdown in the middle of the mallor a restaurant? The only thing my child suffers from is theintolerance of grown-up morons like Dennis Leary. The book is a month away from being released. If anyone wishes tocontact the publisher, the phone number of Viking Penguin is. Their e-mail address is ecommerce@....You can also go to amazon.com, look up the book, and post yourcomments about it there.
