what types of tea?

I'm curious what types of tea you guys use to make your kombucha. i

know it's mostly black and green, but what i mean is..

well let me explain. as many of you may know..green and black tea

accumulates flouride naturally. how much? i dont know. But I keep

reading about the harmful effects of flouride in our bodies. many

people live in areas where there water is unneccessarily flouridated

(like me..i'm in DC). i met someone on the coconut oil forum who

told me as soon as he came here from india..he developed allergies.

after a lot of research, he finally uncovered that his skin was

reacting to the water..he wasn't used to the flouride in the water.

after obtianing water that was flouride free..his symptoms began to

go away. when i told him i was brewing my own kombucha, he warned

me not to use regular teabags, but get tea tips (PG Tips is a brand

available at european/indian stores), in which just the tips of tea

leaves are used..the tips tend not to accumulate flouride. he told

me GT's brand will also likely have a lot of flouride (which is what

i've been drinking). Some ways to reduce flourides that you injest

are.. if your tap water is flouridated, get a reverse osmosis water

filter (expensive!), get spring water, try not to take too hot

showers (the colder the better so your pores dont' open up), and get

tea made from tea leave tips. oh..and replace the colgate/crest

with a flouride free herbal one (my friend suggested vicco turmeric

toothpaste..it's all natural, indian brand). To learn more about

flouride..you can check out http://www.fluoridealert.org/faqs.htm

But anayway..with all of kombucha's benefits..flouride may be quite

prevalent..boiling the water may get rid of chloring..but not

flouride. and then the tea itself.. drats!

Ok, so i'm just telling you what i have recnetly learned..still

don't know a lot. So I'd like to know your thoughts and concerns

about flouride in tea and water, and what if anything you guys do to

reduce flouride. Thanks!
