I wrote this today. I felt it in my heart -- this desire for

silence. I know you all feel it too. I hope the calming words help

you, too. It soothed me to give them air.

RAPTURE OF SILENCE

by Ryman

Wind blowing curtains, ivory silk.

Moonlit ribbon dances through.

White pillow, powdered kiss of night

I breathe, slumber, dream.

Rapture of silence -- Embrace me sweetly.

The empty wind with no voice

combs my hair with silent fingers

and cools my burning feet.

Rapture of silence -- Oh how I wait.

Long days of yearning, tortured hours

Mindless chatter, senseless noise

Bereft of energy, impossible to avoid.

White pillow, powdered kiss of night.

And away I dream a soothing stillness.

Ripples of water memories.

Glades of shadowed green.

Crossings of light between tree leaves.

It is the sweet nectar of dreams

in which I gloriously swim.

Lovingly, blindingly, beautifully mine.

Beautifully white and

Silent.
