Guest guest
I'm currently going through a process of applying for SSDI based on my CMT. My diagnosis of CMT is based on NCV and EMG testing. It has been suggested to me that I should get the genetic test done to aid in this process. Currently, I'm on GAX and have some medical support but everyone seems unclear as to whether or not this can be used. My regular doctor and my social worker don't have any problem with me going for this assistance, in fact, have recommended it- but SS is another entity altogether. I'm just wondering what others have done in this situation re: genetic testing or not and whether there might be financial aid for someone like myself in order to pay for testing. Or whether or not SSDI even takes a look at that. My caseworker doesn't seem to have any info. I've gone through the search functions and haven't found anything directly relating to this, but ... apologies if it's already been posted. Thanks in advance for your time and energy! Guest guest
, The more medical documentation you have for your SSDI claim the better, and the more documentation on the severity of your CMT the better. Most people are turned down because SS, doctors and Vocational Experts find that " severity " is not " severe " enough and that the claimant CAN in fact do some work. In addition, the doctor in the Consultative Exam will then have all your tests, Xrays, MRI, and more and be able to make a stronger report. I work for a firm that handles only SSDI and some SSI cases. ~ Gretchen
