Guest guest
Rena, I am interested in the Foot Ups. Where do you get them and who makes them? Thanks,
Guest guest
, I found my Foot Ups at a shoe store in St. Louis, Missouri. This place was amazing. I was there for hours. They make custom shoes for people that come from all over the world. This one guy spent forever with me trying to figure out how best to help me. He said that I would probably have to have shoes made for me before too long but I'm trying really hard to make do with ready made shoes right now. He said they have people come in there with CMT all the time but I was the youngest person he'd ever seen that far progressed. Anyway, we finally figured out that I could wear the foot-ups with the ankle braces just by cutting a little hole in the ankle brace. I wear my foot ups as far down the shoes as possible. They say they're supposed to be for mild to moderate foot drop. I don't know how bad my foot drop is, but these things let me walk much, much farther than I can without them. The shoe store's website www.comfortshoe.com has a good picture and description of foot-ups. I paid a pretty penny- like over 300 dollars. The ankle straps are good practically forever, but the shoe inserts that I've worn for the last 7 months have worn away at the sides where they rub at the shoe laces. I'm going to wear them until they completely wear through, but I found some replacements through some other website and paid like $25 for each insert. Here is that website: http://www.ossur.com/template110.asp?pageid=2207 This is another website that has them available. http://www.technologyinmotion.co.uk/flash/ankle-foot/footup.htm Rena
Guest guest
Rena, Thanks for all the terrific information. I have moderate foot drop but I wear AFOs and I am always looking for something that might be less cumbersome. Thanks again,
