Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I know the feeling about shoes. My husband has to MAKE me go shoe shopping and then we end up making 3 or more trips to return and try a different pair before I find something that I can halfway tolerate. Right now I have three pairs of shoes (all in multiples) that I have found work for me. New Balance 490, Vasque hiking shoes- " Breeze " #7451M, and Skechers Tredds " Sashay " #45063. All of them have a really stiff heel to help keep my ankle from turning, a roomy, round toe box, and a kinda rectangular shape sole. (Too many shoes have a sole that curves severely inward at the arch- Bad for me. My feet are collapsed-overpronated.) And I wear black velcro ankle braces made by Futuro Sport from Wal-Greens on both feet. They have these stiff inserts at the sides that aren't severe, but really help. And with that I wear two pairs of Foot-ups that help WONDERFULLY with my foot drop, + I've started wearing these cushioning toe sleeves from Wal-mart to keep my toes from squishing so hard on each other. That was causing a LOT of pain. The toe cushion " sleeves " seem to be working really well. I even tried a pair of toe socks and that worked ok, but then I couldn't find any more of them. I know your feet and mine are probably totally different, this is just what has worked for me. I'm 27 years old. My condition has gotten noticeably worse in the last 4 years or so.
