Guest guest
Ardie, I don't think you go through aspertame with drawal, at least not in an unpleasant sence. The things I noticed were an increase in memory, a big decrease in swelling (all over) and a sharp decrease in muscle spasms; I had some severe arm jerking going on as well as small spasms in my fingers, abdomin and legs. Caffeine on the other hand is powerful stuff. Most people get a " caffeine headache " if they don't get their usual amount. I usually don't get one with just 1 day off it, but by the 2nd day I'm bordering on migraine. When I cut down on caffeine ( I still have my 2 cups of coffee in the morning) I had to do it gradually; have a little less each day or couple of days. I tried taking extra strength tylenol etc. for the headache but it didn't touch it. And I'm on oxycontin...you'd think that the oxy would take care of the headache...it didn't. It only went away after I gave in and had a cup or 2 of coffee. I don't know how long caffeine withdrawal would last for you. It probably depends on how much you usually have a day. I think it took me a week or two. Its hard to remember because I cut down on caffeine a while ago. I did quit cold turkey. One day when I ran out of Pepsi I just didn't put it on the shopping list. I started drinking water every time I thought of having a soda or a cigarette (I stopped smoking too - 7/9/01). At first it didn't taste good, seemed like a pain in the a$$, but after a couple of days I loved it, couldn't get enough of it. There's sodium in soda and that can make you hold water. Diet soda is worse, it has more sodium than the regular. after a couple of weeks I tried a sip of my daughter's soda to see what it tasted like and I could actually taste the salt; it really didn't taste good to me any more. I drink water and iced tea ( decaf and unsweetened). I make it myself, not the instant kind that comes in a canister, and put some lemon it and sometimes a little honey (not much). hope this helps, Sue Mc (sorry, I should have been using the Mc all along)
Guest guest
Sue- Just a comment...congrats on the " not smoking " . I'm gonna give it a whirl as soon as I start this pain clinic...they have a hypnosis program there...and hypnosis worked before to give up smoking....the only downfall and reason I started up again is because I put on 15 pounds!!! It definately changes your metabolism because I watched my food intake VERY closely!! So GOOD JOB!!!
