Information required about CMT clinics in USA

Hi all,

I want to discuss about my 6-years old son. Recently, we have observed muscle

weakness and slight footdrop in his lower limbs. So we consulted one reputed

neurologist. He also conducted " Nerve Conduction Test " . Its report shows Motor

Neuropathy and axonal + demylinating in the lower limbs.

We live in Mumbai, India. In India we have very little awareness about CMT.

There is no specialized neurologist & orthothotic for CMT. So our neurologist

suggested to find specialized aid in USA. We wish to perform Genetic Testing for

type of CMT and we want expert’s advice about AFOs, orthotics, exercises etc.

for him. Can anyone of you suggest any " CMT Clinic " in USA?

We searched for information regarding CMT on the Internet. We are members of

CMTA & . In the July-August 2006 newsletter of CMTA we came across

information about “Wayne state University CMT Clinic, Detroit, Michigan”. Has

anyone of you any experience about this clinic?

What is the procedure for enrolling our case in this or any of such clinics? Is

health insurance required since we will be coming from India? What will the

approximate estimate for carrying out all the tests?
