Guest guest
Hello to all! Hope everyone is doing well. It is a chilly 14 degress here in PA..Bbrrrr!! Ok, here are my issues. At times I seem to have issues with my fingers not working properly, like trying to open a napkin or picking up papers. I also get to where they feel kinda like numb, like when I am driving I feel like I am not really holding on to the steeringwheel. Also sometime I get small shakes in them. Also, I have a lot of tightness in my right foot. On the outside of it below the ankle. Sometimes the foot is very painful. Does any of this sound like symptoms of the CMT. (yes I was diagnosed) O could it be from the nerve biopsy that I had about a year and a half ago? Meeting with my lawyer today, not sure what he can do after ignoring me for almost 8 months, but wish me luck anyway!! Teri
Guest guest
Teri, Yes, some people with CMT have finger/hand symptoms. The shaking you refer to is called " tremors " and some people with CMT have this too. Mine is very mild now, almost non-existent. I took a medication for it for years and recently stopped with no further tremors or surge in tremors. Your foot problem would not now be caused by a biopsy done so long ago. Are you exercising/stretching/ are you wearing any kind of orthotics - these may need adjustment / are you wearing supportive foot wear/ how is your gait? These would more likely be causing you the pain. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Hi Teri, Keep your hands really warm and that should help with some of your fine motor control. When my hands are cold they just don't work.
Guest guest
Sorry guys just catching up with emails after almost a month of work travel and busy-ness! The tight feeling on the outer edge of a foot is what sent me to a doctor in the first place. In my case they said it was a peroneal tendonitis. It comes and goes for me but is worse when I wear shoes without good support / alignment. It is also sore after exercises specifically targeting my peroneal muscle. All the best from raining London, Donna
