Guest guest
Hi Tonya, Are you taking any medication for the restless legs (R.L.S.)? I take Requip and it really helps. Also there is another medication that I've heard of CMTers taking for R.L.S. called Mirepex. Requip is over $2 a pill. I checked with the partnership for prescription assistance (the one Montel promotes) and I qualified for assistance for the Requip. I'm in the process of getting the paperwork completed for the drug company. I know how miserable you must be, because I was having the same problems with my legs and literally reached the point of exhaustion from not being able to sleep. It is a terrible thing to deal with. I was having trouble in the daytime also. Hopefully you can find something that will help. Holly
Guest guest
Is there a real study going on somewhere about these crazy legs? All I can find are people taking expensive medication for something that appears to have just developed over the last few years. What was it called before Restless Legs? It makes me wonder what body deficiency is causing this. Vit. B maybe? Lack of balanced diet? Too many Veggies?---Imbalance can create havoc. My legs move a lot too....when the Dr. asked me , I told him I usually had a tune in my head and was keeping time with it which is true. I also have enough back pain that moving helps a lot to keep me from being miserable all the time. I refused the medication. When I get the crawly feeling legs, it is usually a broken vessel or something that goes away. But I always look to make sure it is not a clot or something that needs tending to. My twitchy comes from nerves that are fighting for freedom from being pinched. Usually I can figure out and work to get that area relaxed. I am truly upset with the Dr.'s who are putting medication out right and left to people that DON " T necessarily need it. Yes, in this group I understand there is a need......I just needed to say that there is a lot of abuse going on with this diagnosis. Guest guest
Hi, I'm not currently taking any medication for it and am hoping to find some type of natural remedy. I can remember my Dad really getting angry if we touched the thermostat when we were kids. I vaguely remember him saying something about it bothering his legs. The past couple of years, I finally figured it out - my legs are a lot worse if the room temp is above about 68 degrees. I'm having the same conversations with my children that he had with us! (I've also thought about buying a lock box to go over the thermostat) I asked Dad - he said that his would usually only bother him if he didn't do enough walking during the day. He hasn't had problems with the twitchy legs more recently - except for right after he had back surgery. The doctor prescribed quinine sulf. He said it worked really well. Since Dad has CMT, I've assumed that the jumpy legs were part of the CMT. After I posted my original question, I started wondering if that was true or not.
