Guest guest
Has anyone taken the supplement Seacure? Is was suggested by a Dr. we know who has found that his patients suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and MS have benefited from using it. Main ingredient is fish. Guest guest
Yes, it is made from fish, and is primarily used for gastrointestinal problems. I would advise caution if the CMT person has ANY seafood allergies. Read the label on the product to find out what else is in it. Look for it too under quackwatch.com Also, remember that MS is entirely different from CMT. MS is an auto- immune disorder, CMT is a genetically inherited neuropathy. Have you asked your doctor EXACTLY why he thinks Seacure is so great? You might want to ask if he has any financial ties to sales also. This link mentions it for " neurological function " , although the only neuro function I find is for wound healing. http://www.propernutrition.com/seacure.html' This mentions medical info from South America and Seacure's use in Dystrophy. But, remember CMT is not dystrophy. http://www.seacure-protein.com/clinical-use.html Read below for 2 Abstracts I found in the NLM: Immunobiology. 2006;211(5):341-50. Immunomodulating capacity of commercial fish protein hydrolysate for diet supplementation.Duarte J, Vinderola G, Ritz B, Perdigon G, Matar C. Departement de Chimie et Biochimie, Universite de Moncton, Moncton (NB), Canada E1A 3E9. Dietary proteins harbour bioactive peptides that can be released by a fermentation process. Fish proteins are a valuable and little- exploited source of potentially active biopeptides. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effects of a commercially available fermented fish protein concentrate (Seacure) (FPC) derived from a fermentation process, on the mucosal immune response in a murine model. BALB/c mice received the FPC or the non-fermented powder at different concentrations (0.20, 0.25 or 0.30mg/ml) for 2, 5 or 7 consecutive days. At the end of each feeding period, histological studies of the gut were carried out and the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages, the number of IgA+ cells in the small intestine lamina propria and bronchial tissue and the number of IL- 4+, IL-6+, IL-10+, IFNgamma+ and TNFalpha+ cells in the small intestine lamina propria were determined. Different accumulative doses of FPC did not induce any inflammatory immune response and the normal morphology of the small intestine was not affected. Phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages was enhanced following FPC administration at 0.3mg/ml for 7 consecutive days. The number of IgA+ cells increased in the small intestine lamina propria but not in the bronchial tissue. IL-4, IL-6 and IL-10 were all significantly increased in the lamina propria of the small intestine of animals that received FPC. At the same time, some pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IFNgamma and TNFalpha also increased, but the intestinal homoeostasis was maintained and no tissue damage was observed. We conclude that FPC is an immunomodulating food with a demonstrated capacity to enhance non-specific host defense mechanisms. J Microencapsul. 2001 Jan-Feb;18(1):3-12. Mucoadhesive chitosan-coated liposomes: characteristics and stability.Filipovic-Grcic J, Skalko-Basnet N, Jalsenjak I. Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Lecithin liposomes, empty or containing FITC-dextran, were prepared by the ethanol injection method. Three different types of chitosans with different molecular weight and degrees of deacetylation were used (Seacure 113, 210 and 311). Chitosan coating was carried out by mixing the liposomal suspension with the chitosan solution followed by incubation. The size of liposomes was measured before and after polymer coating by an image analysis technique. The mean diameter of liposomes containing FITC-dextran was in the size range 250-280 nm, whereas the size after coating was 300-330 nm, regardless of chitosan type. All chitosan-coated liposomes were of spherical shape and no morphological differences between uncoated and coated liposomes were observed. Liposomes with FITC-dextran, originally entrapping 50% of the marker substance taken in the preparation and coated in the presence of unentrapped marker substance, contained 60- 65% of the marker substance. The highest entrapment was found for liposomes coated with medium molecular weight chitosan. The stability of chitosan-coated liposomes in simulated gastric fluid was significantly higher as compared to uncoated liposomes. One can conclude that chitosan is stabilizing the original liposomal structure and protecting liposomally entrapped drug. Hope this helps. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
I also bought some Seacure from iHerb.com. I recently purchased some HCI with Pepsin and some essential oils from them also. I chose the standard $4 shipping and it arrived in a timely matter. They have just about everything under the sun on their website and so far they have been thorough and timely. BTW, does anyone have any tips on how to get a 3 & 4 yr old to take the Seacure? Thanks, Therese
Guest guest
>>Where is a good place to get it cheap? << There is no such thing as cheap Seacure. But I'm going to take l-glutamine on my anti-candida diet instead of seacure. Glutamine really helps the gut heal and since Seacure is very high in glutamine, it's thought by some that that is the reason Seacure helps heal the gut. L-glutamine is much cheaper than seacure and can be bought in pure powder form with no additives. I got mine from iherb.com Suze
