follow up of surgery

Hi everyone, we just got back from the doctors. Well we discussed

with him about the surgery. Well he told us there are two surgeries

he can do. The first one is the one that is 65-70% chance it will

work. But the thing that concerns him, with that one, is that I

barely have any muscle tone.

When he looked at my foot today he was concerned about even doing it now. So he

recommends another type and it is called pantalar fusion. It is where my right

foot will be straight, like my foot is when I have my braces on. He said I have

a better chance of this one working out than the other one.

See if the other one does not work than he would have to do this one and that

would mean going through another surgery and more recovery time. The down side

of this one is I will be laid up for 3 months rather than 6 weeks.

I just am going to worry about the kids and Bob. I hate

just lying around and not doing anything. Plus I cannot even sit at

the computer and do anything. So I don't know what I am going to do.

I wish I had a lap top but oh well right. He does not want me to put any

pressure it it all. The date for the surgery is February 22, 2007. The reason

its so far in advance is he only does surgery at the hospital on Tuesdays and

Thursdays. So we picked Thursday so Bob would not have to take too many days

off.

So I was just wondering if anyone has had this surgery done and if so how long

were they in their cast.

Sue
