Hi ,

Thank you so much... We are doing our best to keep her warm. It would be almost

impossible for her to be outside if the temperature was below 70. Last year she

was home schooled because she was in to much pain to get up in the morning.

We moved here to Florida from Boston hoping the warmer temperatures

would help her. Though they have not made as big a difference as we

hoped, at least without that intense cold she is able to attend

school most days. At home she stays wrapped in a heated blanket most

of the time. I got her the battery operated socks today but could not find any

place with the gloves in stock but hopefully will find some soon.

The school although very open to allowing her to have her lap top and help with

her notes and things, said they did not think she needs to have a 504 plan. Is

that something I should insist on? Are there any pros or cons to having one? She

is in the 11th grade and is scared if I make a fuss about things they will tell

us to go back to home schooling her. She also does not want her chances of

getting into a good college affected by making waves at school.

We have so many questions that I could go one forever. Thank you for

all your help.

Hi Lissa,

All pros as far as a 504 goes. The 504 plan will carry on through

out college. So a note taker and your other modifications legally will continue

the first day of college. Right now she may not need the 504 plan because your

school is making modifications but what happens when you get a teacher that

won't follow them ?

I just had to turn Spencer's 504 plan over to the college so he could get in to

disabled student services and modifications.

Please read up on 504 plans. My schools like having 504 plans so everyone knows

what my kids can and can't do.

I also wanted to mention that since I started on mega doses of Vitamin C I don't

get as cold. I think it thins my blood enough to give me better circulation.

Hi ,

and I are reading up on it together and will talk more with

her school this week. I also call the college to get some input from

them because she takes her AP classes there twice a week. They agreed

that having the 504 made things eaiser for them most of the time.

was far more interested in your use of Vitamin C and begged

me to drive the 90 min. into the city tonight to so she could go to

GNC... well she has the Vitamin now and will start taking it

tomorrow. I told her I did not know how much or if it would work but

just the idea that it might work even a little has her very excited.

Thank you.

Lissa
