Guest guest
Geri, One of the best places to go is the Mayo Clinic for your CMT needs. See if you can get an appointment with Dr. Dyck or one of his colleagues. ~ Gretchen

Guest guest
Hi Geri, I go to the U of MN MDA clinic in the twin cities and I see Dr. Day. He is an excellent Dr. and totally understands CMT. When you have an appointment there, you are totally examined thoroughly, first by another neurologist, then by Dr. Day , then a physical therapist , and you also get to meet with the MDA health services coordinator, along with the nurse clinician. My appointment lasted about 3 hours, but I know that it was well worth it. I have corresponded with Dr. Day through his nurse clinician both by phone and e-mail with several concerns and I have had an answer for everything with in 24 hours. Guest guest
Hi Chris....Yes! I have been to the MDA clinic in Mpls-St ...they are so good and I also saw Dr. Day he is wonderful. Then my records were transferred to MDA Duluth...because they thought it would be closer for me. It is easer to get to the Duluth clinic but just as far ..three hour drive..Still like Mpls Clinic but it is not easy for us to get there..Russ is disabled also....gosh sometimes things can be so hard. Thanks Geri
Guest guest
Hi Geri, I live near Brainerd also. I am a 34 year old female. 14 years ago I started losing my hair, and completely lost my hair 4 times altogether so far. I saw numerous doctors, even had a biopsy taken of my scalp, which showed I had telegen effluvium, probably caused by taking steroid inhalers for asthma and birth control pills. This severly effected my hairs shedding cycle. I was then told that I instead had alopecia, which is a hair loss disease. Since I found out I had CMT type 2 about a year ago, I started a vitamin regimine of 1000 mg vitamin C, 2500 mcg of B12, and 400 IU of vitamin E because I needed to try something to get some energy and I was also getting sick alot . I am proud to say I have 90% of my hair back, and I can strategically style it to cover a few bald spots on the sides. I had to wear a wig or a bandana up until about 2 months ago. I think my body was lacking vitamins and tests were not showing that I was. From personal experience, there really is not a whole lot medically that can be done to prevent hair loss. I tried everything there was available, and every appointment I went to I became more discouraged so I just learned to accept that I would never have my shoulder length blonde hair ever again. My hair decided to grow back curly and still blonde. I could hardly hold a perm before I lost it all. I also lose my eyelashes and eyebrows periodically. If you ever need someone to talk about this, feel free to email me personally. Chris
