Guest guest
It's kind of a long story. He didn't know he was 'sick' until I noticed these " small veins " all about him and did some research, found out they were spider angioma's and suggested he go to the doctors. He was diagnosised with Hep C and was sent for more tests. Hep C, with liver cancer, about two years of good health unless he did interferon, is what he told me. '' 45, he has many symptoms of liver damage; body pain, joint pain, low grade fever, spiders, low energy, little appetite, nose bleeds, coughing up blood, now he is getting what looks to me like ascites. He does drive and does function. Tracey In a message dated 4/4/2006 9:50:31 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, cindyvern@... writes: He was told he had liver cancer? A couple of years ago? How old is he? - Liver Cancer '' was told he had this. I had asked him if I could get a copy of his medical records a couple of years ago when the 'diagnosis' was made and he did sign the papers needed, though he has/had three doctors and what I got from the general doctor wasn't much help, and I felt like I was prying so I let it go. Maybe I will pursue this again. Tracey In a message dated 4/4/2006 9:05:17 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, cindyvern@... writes: That was a beautiful essay. Do you know if anyone in this group has primary liver cancer from the cirrhosis, I am afraid my Grandfather now has that, he has had a " lesion " in his liver since last summer (that I know of), it was 1cm and had not grown as of Nov., he was again in the hospital twice in the last two months, from hepatic encephalopathy. The last time when we got to the ER they did an ultrasound on his liver right away and didn't say much, then the next day they did an MRI, I asked my Grandmom if they thought he had liver cancer and she said it was " a possibility, " so the next day they sent him home, I asked her what the results of the MRI were, and she said " oh, they never even mentioned it, " now I know they don't give you an MRI and then " not mention " the results, so I am assuming he has liver cancer. He seems to be getting sicker quickly, I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me what happens next.
Guest guest
Wow, thank you for the description, it helps me a lot. My Grandfather, 76, was working until November, and driving etc., he had a small blood clot (minor stroke) in his brain, since then he recuperated, then had a debilitating attack of Porphyria (it is a hereditary blood disorder that causes too much iron in the blood), that is what has caused the cirrhosis, though he did drink as well, he has had the Porphyria for a long time, his mother and both siblings had it, he has had ascites now and the mental changes are the scariest. I am just so upset right now. I feel like I am numb and in a cloud, I can not stay focused I keep thinking about him and what is going to happen, I know to focus on the good and blah blah, but it is all so sad. So, he hasn't driven since November but, he keeps his keys to his van right next to him in his chair. Re: - Liver Cancer It's kind of a long story.
