Guest guest
Hi , OK so you received your approval letter. Does that letter tell you your benefit amount, your past due benefits and when you can expect them? It should. Also, did you sign up for " Direct Deposit " (electronic benefits right into your bank account)? This can sometimes take 2-3 months, so if you haven't received any other correspondence or watched your bank account, by May 5, I'd call your local SS office again. Or better yet, give this last bit of " stress " to your attorney. Do you know if your file is a paper file or an electronic file? It is possible that whatever your file is might still be at the Hearings Office, or may have been routed to the Payment Center for calculation of benefits and to get prepared for payment. I'm sure your attorney can easily track down your file and update you on the status. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
The letter I received was from the Chief ALJ. It states I am fully approved. I received this on Feb. 5. No one has mentioned direct deposit to me. I called the national 800 number once (about 6 weeks ago) and was told " it's in the pay department " . No info since. Is it uncommon for SSA to refuse to talk to me? I finally did get the name of a person to contact but she will not call me back. It's been ten days since I left her the last message. Guest guest
Hi , OK, wait another 2 weeks and call the 800 number again. If your file has gone to the payment division, that's a good sign. You should be getting a " Notice of Award " letter or something like that which will state your monthly amount and any back due benefits. And most likely something about direct deposit. And yes, it is common for SSA reps in local field offices NOT to call back. Besides if your info has gone to the payment division, the reps in local offices may not know anything - until the payment division has acted. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Thanks Gretchen. I can't help but feel that SSA thinks I'm not deserving. It really upset me the way I was talked to.
