Hi Jim,

Where about do you live in Ontario?

I live in Ottawa and I have CMT. I am 72 but only found out in late 40's when we

found out my son who had Hodgkinsons disease also had it.

I was lucky that it did not really bother me till 50+. It would be nice to know

if there is anywhere in Ontario they know very much about CMT.

Hi Barb,

We live in town,Ont. When my son was diagnosed @ age 16 we went to Sick

Kids hospital and they knew quiet a bit about the disease,I never heard of it

until my son got it.Most of the doctors that I've talked to heard of it but

didn't know too much about it.

Hi my name is Roxanne and I live in Hamilton Ont Canada and I have CMT

as well as my 8 yr old son does,there is an excellent doctor

named " Mark Tarnapolsky " and he works out of " McMaster Childrens

Hospital " here in Hamilton. I hope this helps you out. Also a doctor named DR

Goodwin " on Concession ST here in Hamilton is great. Me and my son get

care from both of these doctors.

Hey, Roxanne,

Mark is my doctor as well. I live in Stoney Creek, used to live right besides

MAC. Mark is a wonderful guy and a great Doctor. I just saw him about a month

ago and he told me one of his counter parts Steve, I believe was his first name

is taking over most of the CMT patients as Steve is going specialize in CMT and

Mark is going to specialize in something else.

Mark discovered my CMT. If was funny he took look at my feet and said " yep you

have it " . I said what he said " CMT Type 1A " and then he did the DNA work and he

was right. The intern he had with him brought out his text book from school and

there was a picture of my feet. It was very nice finally finding out what was

wrong with me for all those years. Could finally try and do the right things to

help myself, now that I knew what the problem was.

I cant believe Mark would ever leave his CMT patients,thanks for the info as my

8 yr old sees him ,Im going to have to make an appt sooner than I thought for my

son. It is so nice to hear from someone from Hamilton,we live King/Cochrane

area.

Hi Roxanne,

Yes it is nice to talk to people in the area. Mark gave me the option to stay

with him as he did not want to push his patients away, but did state that Steve

will be specializing in CMT so he would be the best man for the job. It sounds

like they work closely together and Steve would be handling an trials and

keeping in touch with new advancements for CMT. Although I think this message

forum does a great job of that.

We are right by King and Battlefield.
