Guest guest
Hi Oh your post was such terrific news! When I read it and the news about your new Internship, I got goosebumps! I am so excited for you! And yes, it's been my experience too, that even better opportunities come from a situation that's full of sh**. Also wonderful news to hear you're working towards graduating as planned And Kudos, too, for filing the EEOC complaint! ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Hi Gretchen, Thank you for the reply : ). I love the internship! The social worker is excellent. She has her LCSW as well as her MSW, she is very talented & I am lucky to be learning from her. I don't think that I realized how depressed I was until I started working with the Forbes Norris MDA ALS center. Since interning I have felt a sense of accomplishment and hope. I think the situation with the school & CPS caused a sense of isolation, failure & loss. I am able to deal with that loss now because of the internship - the general support I receive as a passive member of the group - and my family (My parents- brother - husband - 2 dogs - cat - and bird). This internship is showing me other options besides Child Protective Services. I feel supported and positive about the future. I think that going up against a system is difficult. It is hard to be seen as the squeeky wheel, or worse still - a liability. I have to be perfect in my classwork to reinforce the fact that I didn't just want but in fact NEEDED accommodations, but when I need to do well sometimes I get chronic migraine/ fatigue. Thank you for the amazing amount of time you put into this group- the research posts & responses. Sometimes this group is social, sometimes it's informative & sometimes it is a floatation device. Best of Health, Love, Chris
