Guest guest
Amelia, Reflexes are reduced or absent in CMT because of some sensory nerve loss. Other neurological syndromes also share this - like Frederick's Ataxia, for one. Childhood Onset Polyneuropathies http://www.neuro.wustl.edu/neuromuscular/time/child.html Several years ago a pilot study of eight people with CMT 1A found that treatment with neurotrophin 3 (NT3) improved sensory function and nerve regeneration. (more about NT3 in our Files section) My whole life I seemed to have absent knee reflexes. Until a few years ago my new Internist tried them, and wow, was I surprised, my legs kicked out! Both of us are still baffled by this. Sometimes I wonder if these " new " (lol) reflexes are from Vitamin E or from exercise and continued stregthening of my legs. ~ Gretchen
