ADA Question

I have a disability insurance through my credit union. It's not much but covers

the cost of my vehicle payment. The insurance company, CUNA Mutual, is

constantly sending paperwork to be filled out by my

doctor. It's the same questions, just reworded, every couple of months.

Today, while at a doctor's appointment, the insurance company faxed more papers

to be filled out to my doctor. My doctor has made it

very clear that CMT/Peripheral nueropathy/ RA can be disabling and I meet the

requirements. He stated repeated all my information to them.

One question asked " will I ever do gainful employment at any time

in my life again " , and " does my disability prevent me from other employment

outside of my prior work history? " My doctor told me he must answer yes to those

questions because the ADA requires him to. Even though he wrote his opinion to

the contrary on the form.

I am not very clear on ADA regulations. I do know at my last job I requested

accomodations and was denied. I was told that " I signed an agreement when hired

that I could meet all job requirements listed on

my job duties " and that they could not help me. Keep in mind I was working for

the state government. Can anyone give me advice, suggestions, clarifications,

I'll take anything.

Also, my insurance company asked the dr. about rehabilitation. I met with a

state approved voc. rehab the day of my SSDI hearing. She

has stated in writting " there is no job in the public sector that can accomodate

my restrictions and rehab is not an option " .
