I'm sorry to say that hadn't occurred to me before I donated to Heifer, but from everything I've read about them (both their own literature and other sources) I never got the impression they were interested in anything but helping people get a sustainable source of food via the animals. I would like to find out for certain before I give them any more money, though, so I'd also appreciate it if anyone here has further insight into this matter that they post it. I have no problem with religious missionaries, but their goal should be totally upfront and not couched in assistance programs, nor should receiving help be contingent upon attending religious services or classes to " enlighten the savage natives " .
