I also think it's important that local culture is

respected, I don't want to contribute to coercing

people to change religions or become Westernized. I'm

sorry to say that hadn't occurred to me before I

donated to Heifer, but from everything I've read about

them (both their own literature and other sources) I

never got the impression they were interested in

anything but helping people get a sustainable source

of food via the animals. I would like to find out for

certain before I give them any more money, though, so

I'd also appreciate it if anyone here has further

insight into this matter that they post it.

I have no problem with religious missionaries, but

their goal should be totally upfront and not couched

in assistance programs, nor should receiving help be

contingent upon attending religious services or

classes to " enlighten the savage natives " . IMHO.

I have no problem with non-violent religious

missionaries, but their goal should be totally

upfront and not couched in assistance programs, nor

should receiving help be contingent upon attending

religious services or classes to " enlighten the savage

natives " . IMHO.
