Hi Fiona,

I've had all the ones you mentioned, plus a few others. Never had any

complications or concerns or 'after effects' related to CMT. The only

innoculation I had a mild reaction to was Typhoid - at the site of the

innoculation, my arm became very red, tender, and itched for 3 days.

My Dr. said sometimes this happens.

Don't take any chances with your health. Get everything you need.

Hi Fiona,

My son has CMT and he had a reaction to his first diptheria vaccine when he was

an infant. After that, the diptheria part wasn't given to him. He had no

reaction to any other vaccines.

CMT and Innoculations

Hello All,

My partner may be posted to UAE later this year and if so we go as

a " package " deal - together. What I was wondering was if

anyone has had adverse reactions to the suggested innoculations for

the middle East - ie tetanus; poliomyelitis; hepatitis A.

diphtheria; tuberculosis; hepatitis B; typhoid. I know that all of

us have so many reactions to all sorts of things but I wondered if

there any core reactions.

I haven't had any innoculations that I can remmeber since I was a

child and since the reactions I had then were severe (ataxia, muscle

weakness etc) I'm really, really wary of taking any of these if I

don't have to. To date I've taken my chances with things like tetanus

and gotten away with it.

Obviously I'll ask my GP (and neurologist if I can get an

appointmeent anytime soon, preferably this year) but personal

experience is always good to hear.

I spent a good amount of time in Dubai in 2004-2005 and had no

adverse reactions to any of the inoculations mentioned. I do not

yet know which CMT " type " I am, so I suppose each could have different

possible reactions.

My CMT kids actually got worse after the DPT. I have only had 1 Doctor tell me

the old DPT shot was a toxin. She assured me that the new DPT is NOT a neuro

toxin.
