Guest guest
Hi , Oh I can relate. Remember when I herniated a disk? And all that followed? Yes, at first I went to a neurologist wondering if it was related to CMT. He assured me it wasn't and referred me to a spinal orthopedist who helped so much, first with very conservative treatment. He explained that 'these things happen as we age' - although I was about 47-8 when I first saw him. And yes, I too was first diagnosed with degenerative disk disease, spinal stenosis and something else. So, yes, get yourself checked out by an orthopedist who knows the spine. I used alot of ice, I also had PT and had aquatic therapy in the beginning, plus Vioxx, all of which helped for awhile. But, as you remember, because of the herniation, I had the successful fusion surgery. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Thank you, I happen to know the best spine doctor in California. I don't think he likes chiropractors and right now that is the only thing that has helped. Did you ever see a Chiropractor? I really hope it's not CMT related. I like to feel " normal " now and then at the doctors office.
Guest guest
Hi , I have alot of problems with my neck and back too. I have 5 herniated discs in both my neck and back and I'm in chronic pain. I see an Orthopedic Doc,Neurologist and Pain Management Doc and had epidurals, nerve block and a treatment called Radiofrequency(they heat the nerve tissue too decrease the pain signals) I take valium, vicodin, daypro, reglan, neurontin and hydromorphone and I'm still in pain. But it seems all my pain is caused by my CMT, you can try to see different types of doctors till you find the right one or ones I find all mine help in different ways and I might be in more pain if it weren't for all of them. Good luck and I hope I helped you in some way. Tommy

Guest guest
Hi , I see a Chiropractor 2x a week for my neck and back it helps a little and I can feel it if I miss 2 days in a row. Well go see the spine doctor and see what he thinks - don't worry about not feeling normal. I've been lucky most of my doctors know about CMT so they know they have to check things better and can't rush into doing things, So sometimes I have to go through a bunch of tests or X-rays and MRI's. Hope everything goes fine and you can get rid of your pain and feel better. Tommy
