Guest guest
Hi Maureen, I know exactly what you are feeling. It's more of an annoyance and kept me up many nights. Its like an annoying itch that scratching doesn't relieve. I used to take a really hot shower which seemed to relieve the tingling feeling. I think its a part of the CMT and in my feeling its the nerves starting to deteriorate. I did some research and what has worked extremely well for me is Neurontin. It also prevents the muscle pains I get mostly in the morning when I am inactive. I also take Ultracet which is a non narcotic which helps with the overall pain associated with excessive activity. Since I have been taking the medical regime I can honestly say the tingling has been gone. Of course the muscle pain is there every now and then when I do a lot of excersize. Also taking vitamin B12 can help maintain your nervous system. Understand you will hear a lot of what works for certain people so my regime may not work for you and you may have to try different things but I would do research first because most doctors have no idea how to treat it other then narcotics which I wouldn't recommend. Keep us updated. Andy
Guest guest
Maureen, I started having the symptoms of neuropathic pain about two years ago, before even a CMT diagnosis. I'm a cause/effect type of person and found that yoga REALLY helped with the symptoms. As long as I kept things stretched out, the numbness/tingling was kept to a tolerable level. I could always tell when I'd been neglecting my stretches by the return of the numbness. After foot surgery last fall, unfortunately it's been really difficult to do a lot of my stretches, and the 'buzz' in my feet has returned. My doctor gave me Cymbalta and that's really done a good job of knocking it out. I take it in the morning and have had few problems sleeping at night. It makes me a tad spacy, but it's much better than the narcotics I was previously taking. O
Guest guest
I was told that a pinched nerve could do this. I had x-rays done of my neck just last month. Ben-gay works miracles for my bad disks, sore muscles and pinched nerves.
Guest guest
I sleep with a large body pillow for years before I was diagnosed, my spouse calls it my other " Wife " . I also have the same symptoms you describe and this is the best idea besides taking strong medications at night.
Guest guest
Hi all. Just wanted to share my symptoms too. I also have the tingling, pins and needles, stabbing pains, muscle twitches and vibrations. I am on 800 mg of Neurotin 3 times a day. It has definitely lessened the symptoms but they are still there. I also get the " stocking " feeling in my lower legs. Personally I find that walking or anything too physical makes my symptoms worse. That's just my two cents.
