Amelia,

I'm not a parent, but a life of CMT had me tripping all over as a

kid. Mostly because of 1) fatigue and 2) being a fast-moving toe-

walker.

Now, your neurologist is a bit pessimistic; yes, a physical

therapist would be good and hopefully would be able to work with a

Certified Pedorthotist who may be able to create some little " in

shoe custom orthotics " that would help balance her feet better on

the ground. You can find a Pedorthotist through http://cpeds.org on

your own if you want also. Or if you get to Los Angeles, you can get

appointments with Rudy and Stefan (my orthotists) at

http://swissbalance.com

Perhaps also get a 2nd opinion from a Pediatric Orthopedist might be

a good idea too.

I am also wondering if Theraputic Horse Back Riding may be of some

benefit here - guess that comes under PT.

First thing I'd say is get rid of that Neurologist. The reason I tripped alot

when I was a kid is that I had a bad drop foot on my right and fatigue. I was

never a lover of braces as a kid (blame ego), so my mom put patches on the

inside and outside of the knees of my jeans when they were still new. Later I

had a surgery in which they took care of it.
