Hi Everyone,

Quick Background: I know that my son (on the autism spectrum) has got some chronic infections that are causing most, if not all, of his problems. We've gotten a good hold on the yeast issues. I have him on lots of supplements because his body doesn't absorb enough nutrients, as well as to boost his immune system. I give him lots of different probiotics (mostly through homemade kefir and yogurt). Herpes (cold sores) are a big problem. And, we've noticed a marked regression when he gets sick with a virus.

Also, we find that he does better at home than at school. Still trying to figure out that one. The school was inspected by the county for mold issues which supposedly came back OK. Not sure I believe it, but I also don't know that it is a problem.

We often find that he responds well to a new supplement or therapy, only to regress again. It's always 3 steps forward and 2.5 steps back...sometimes 3 steps back. It's really frustrating! The latest one is that we started him on selenium - about 25 mcg. It made a really big difference for about 5 days. Now, he is just about back to where he was - it was about a 2.5 step back. This has happened with diet changes, amino acids, probiotics, and now selenium.

On to my question: Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Most people I talk with either have no progress or they know when something helps because the progress remains. Could this be a Lyme's issue? I don't know that he has it, but both of my boys and myself have some symptoms that would suggest it. Any advice is VERY welcome. I have had him tested through the normal route, and of course it came back negative.

Thanks!

Jenn
