Guest guest
I appreciate the link Carl thank you. I agree with checking with a doctor before starting anything in a mega dose. I checked with my doctor and also looked up vitamin C myths and kidney stones. I recommend googling the keywords Vitamin C Kidney stones myth. Just to cover all bases. Guest guest
I am excited to hear that Vitamin C is showing such promise as a long term treatment for CMT. I have been reading the discussion going back and forth about taking a lot of vitamin C and so far I haven't seen the caution from the National Kidney Foundation about taking C, so I am providing a link for those interested: http://www.kidney.org/news/newsroom/newsitem.cfm?id=150 I have trouble with kidney stones, and they're no fun. Some vitamin C and the B complex of vitamins actually help prevent the stones. Too much Vitamin C, for some people, can enhance stone formation. I would check with your own physician before taking a prolonged megadose of C or any other vitamin just to be safe. They may want to have you get an x-ray of your kidneys to be sure you are not carrying stones... and they may want to have another look each year to be sure your diet is not enhancing their development. Kidney disease and stones can be a real problem. I have read much debate over whether or not vitamin C has anything to do with the formation of stones. But since the kidney foundation is still promoting caution I thought I'd pass it along. Thanks. And thanks for the great forum. -carl-
