Guest guest
Hi Gretchen and friends, Good Afternoon, I hope all is well out there with you all! So Sorry, I have been away from the internet for such a long time! For a long time I have not been feeling very well and had to go to Brazil because of my health... I just came back to UK on the 21st of this month... While I was in Brazil I have done a lot of different tests and blood examination etc, etc. Last year had a bad depression and the CMT nerve and muscles got worsen. The doctor told me after all my hormone levels was almost inexistent due menopause, so I had a very low levels and so that was the reason why my health was so bad. After done a MRI of my hips found out I had a atrophy in the gluteus muscles, bursitis on both sides and also now I have osteoporosis unfortunately. I would like to ask you if any of you GIRLS are having problems with menopause x CMT. Gretchen, I've tried to have a look at files on menopause too... still looking all possibilities of treatment. Maybe some of you have some idea about the so called Bio Identical Hormone? Apparently it suppose to be very good for us, but here in UK I can not get much information so far. I also would like to thank you ALL for everything...for any help. Thank you so much!!!! Have a great week end everyone! Love you ALL, Joana in London
Guest guest
Oh the memories. My Mom didn't use any hormones. She started menopause when I was in the 4th grade. I was the only 4th grader that had stuff thrown at her on the way to the school bus.
Guest guest
Hi Joanna, So good to see you back! I wondered where you've been. I wish I had info for you on Menopause and CMT, but it seems most of the research on CMT is done by men, and is (so far) limited to genetics, and some supplements like Vitamin C, just for general CMT 1A. What seems to be happening is those of us in the CMT community are growing, and our needs on accessible information is growing, and those needs (especially for those of us in the " boomer " generation) is fast outpacing research attempts. I have friends on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) here, but I have no need nor do I want to add anything in to my body if I don't have to. Why add hormones to an already inbalance of hormones? I am most always hot, lol, but I have been this way most of my life, so nothing is really new, except in winter I sure don't need many blankets at night, lol I keep on the exercise wagon with aquatics and also now started mountain biking again (except I'm actually riding on roads for awhile) I also pay closer attention to my nutritional needs and need for calcium, etc. Not sure if these links have anything you don't already know http://www.adoracalcium.com/wmns_health/menopause.htm http://www.womentowomen.com/menopause/endingconfusion.asp? id=1 & campaignno=menopause & adgroup=adgroup1 & keywords=menopause http://www.combipatch.com/GlobalPages/Glossary.aspx http://adam.about.com/encyclopedia/004015.htm Are you taking Magnesium and/or Calcium supplements and paying attention to Nutrition? Also, I remember you were regularly going to the gym, so I wonder if you're doing that too. I'm so happy to see you back and look forward to your posts. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Hi Gretchen. I have been thinking here ... How come menopause could be so hard on me? I wonder about other people with CMT? Brought my life up side down , honestly hard to describe it this nightmare Night sweats, depression, luck of energy, more weakness in my feet etc... I will have look at Kava Kava.. Soon I will go to Brazil again...and I hope life will be better! I forgot to say that I have been trying to leave London for good and I hope I will soon. When I am in Brazil I am another person completly, I am much better and happier person out there. also there my sleep is better too Here in UK I am wake at nights...and sleeping during the days always I have been doing that now for more than 3 years! Very bad, anyway... I know but that is the only way I found to live here. Have a nice evening ...Take care & God Bless You! Joana
Guest guest
Hi Joana, Simply, the years of menopause 1) completely change our body and 2) this change itself is stress - physical stress and emotional stress. See you on FB! Gretchen
Guest guest
Thank you Gretchen ... Regarding the menopause : I have asked you because you said you feel better than before, so I thought you have done something special maybe taking suplemnents and lots of exercices etc etc... Because in my case, I DO NOT FEEL BETTER THAN BEFORE ;( ha! Talking bout exercices, yesterday I spoke with my friend ( doctor in Brasil) and she warned me about be very careful with some exercises... Thinking we do not supose to do certain exercises because could make CMT worse. Some people take glutamine and L Carnitine to help. Well, I always do the threadmil and some bicycle at home too... I don't do much wheight but never know when is good enough. After the exercices at the gym I feel my legs like a jelly. Takes time to get better. Interesting, I believe we are all diferent, for some swimming, walk on threadmill and even do weights is ok...and for others is not! Have a great day! Joanna Ps: what is see you on FB? heheh sorry could not understand what you meant Thank you again Gretchen
