Guest guest
As of this date, Vitamin C for other types of CMT (besides 1A) has not been trialed or tested or published in peer review literature. Somewhere in the world, it *may* be undergoing pre-clinical trials, who knows? (lol, I am reading Crichton's " Next " , sure makes me wonder about things) If your doctor doesn't have the information on C, you can print off the documents in our Files for him. If you are too afraid to take it, then don't. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
I have CMT 3 (a.k.a. Dejerine-Sottas), and I started taking two grams of Vitamin C a day a year ago. (I arrived at that number based that on the four grams for an adult male they were talking about at the time, since I'm pretty small.) I haven't seen a big difference but others have commented that my neck seems to be stronger and my breathing muscles as well. I'm thinking of increasing my dose based on what I've read here lately. My understanding of CMT 1 and CMT 3 is that they're very similar genetically, so I'm hoping the protein product of the CMT 3 genes is similar enough that Vitamin C will work the same way. Since Vitamin C is considered safe I feel that it can't hurt to try, and at this point we don't have any alternatives.
Guest guest
Hi , Great to hear from you! This is just my opinion based on research I have done so what ever it's worth, here goes: If you have intestinal problems like diarrhea then the dose is to high. If you are feeling fine without any problem then it is said to be safe to take more. Your body will use what it needs and get rid of the rest. My limit now is 8 grams. When I first started vitamin C I needed more and could handle more.
