Guest guest
Try Thorlo boot liners, they wick moisture away from the skin, I've been using them with my hiking boots and my feet stay pretty dry. In any event don't wear cotton as it thends to hold moisture, try light wool, or a polyester blend. Thorlos are not very stylish but I'm old and cranky so style doesn't matter much. Guest guest
Geri, Have you considered metal braces? The traditional braces. Since these are not inside your shoes, you won't have any of these problems. Today metal braces are made out of lighter materials and are very comfortable. You can have them installed with channels in your heels so you can change them to another pair of shoes easily. Here in Memphis we have hot sticky summers so there is a trend to metal braces. My orthotist says everyone with maybe the exception of young kids are heading that way. One hot sticky summer in plastic braces is usually enough for most people here. Guest guest
Use light wool preferably Merino, it also wicks moisture away from your skin. Yeah they'll be hotter but dryer. Try one pair of Thorlos though. They are very light with acrylic warp threads that wick moisture away from the cotton. They are really long for riding boots and will cover your leg to the top of the AFO. My dad used to cover his AFO with a sock that might help too. Why don't you cut off the front of the socks and resew the toes, If you butcher it, the seam is your shoe anyway. Don't be depressed think of it as an adventure. Guest guest
I live near a Thorlo factory store and usually buy 2nds (they're way cheaper), but Sports Authority has these. If you want to try them. http://www.sportsauthority.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2498261 & cp=1159784 Ed

Guest guest
If you're dead set on wool try looking at this link they have a bunch of different styles to give you an idea. The snowboard socks are probably not a good choice though. The smart socks listed further down the page look promising. I realize that tholos are demon man made fibre but they really do work, this surprised me also as I usually don't tolerate synthetic fibers well. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?N=0 & allWords=merino%2\ 0sock & searchDescriptions=true Good Luck Ed

Guest guest
My husband first had plastic AFOs but now has metal. They are much more comfortable, but he doesn't like the hassle of putting them on. I really have to nag to get him to wear them. He regrets not getting them when the doctor first recommended AFOs because his feet became much more deformed. Elinor
