Guest guest
I think that this advice applies equally to adults. I am seeing a sports therapist who basically does assisted deep stretching and release therapy with me. I see him two times a week. I have very minimal CMT signs (outward that is) but I definitely have CMT. The stretching has made me feel more " in my legs " from my feet to hips than perhaps I have felt ever. I stand better, walk better, and feel stronger. I am using the therapy in conjunction with training for the goal of a half triathlon (no I am not running - permission to walk it) and working on my leg and arm strength. It seems to be one positively reinforcing loop - with the stretching improving my movement making exercise easier and making the exercise work the muscles it should be working, and with those muscles doing their job it improves my flexibility. I think we all need to be very aware of the benefits of exercise and stretching, and no matter how horrible something feels at the beginning to persist and feel overall health benefits that will come. And a bonus of course is the slimming up! I probably have lost 3 kg (about 6 pounds) and have another 4 to go for my target weight - but my clothes fit better, jeans fit better, and I no longer feel like I carry additional weight (bearing in mind muscle is more dense than fat I may be close to my desired measurements already). I have not modified my eating and feel great! Best wishes from grey London.
