Guest guest
Dear Amelia... Our son was also totally flat footed at the same age as your daughter. Once he got orthotic inserts in his shoes he fell a lot less and had more power in moving around as his leg, knee, hip were better aligned. The inshoe inserts didn't affect his muscle weakness...he is now in AFOs much of the day and while they have weakened his calf muscles somewhat they have stopped the inward deformity of his ankles and forefoot, in fact despite going through a growth spurt the shape of his feet haven't changed in 3 years. It seems to depend so much on each person's situation...for some AFOs are overbracing, for others they are a real help. Good luck..
