Guest guest
Hi Gretchen, We are using this as a part of the triathlon training for our bike rides. I am going with my husband and a friend that got us both to do the triathlon. I have been asked to take lots of photos to show us in action - so I will bring my camera. I am doing it as a sponsored ride - the official charity for the Bike-a-thon is the Leukaemia Society here. So I am raising funds for that which is appropriate as a dear neighbour of mine recently passed away from it. My bike is a fast hybrid - so no curved handle bars which I don't like for shifting gears (but more tiring on the arms in a long ride). I have racks on it now but may take those off overnight as they add about 2 lbs on the overall bike weight. The hybrids are nice as they have a mountain bike style frame but large wheels like road bikes. Mine has carbon fibre forks which makes it a lot lighter. I am still a bit nervous on the road so this is a good test for me. My friend who is joining us is great on the roads and safe, so I am following her. She promised not to treat it like a race but a fun ride... She is really good you see... We meet for breakfast at 8 at my place, then cycle 7 miles to the park, then 13 miles around the Thames and Tower Bridge, then back from the park home. I suspect we will have an after ride pint at our local pub! I hope the weather holds like it is now - it is about 75 degrees, partly sunny and humid. If all goes to plan we will be at home relaxing by 1! More tomorrow!
