Guest guest
Kim, Heidi, I cannot agree more with Heidi's statement below. I generally do not like a blend of different dietary supplements, as it is difficult to evaluate what actually works. When a bad reaction occurs, it is hard to tell what causes it. Plus, it limits the freedom to play around with the dosage of individual ingredients. I am passionate towards biomed interventions to recover our kids, but conservative in choosing appropriate supplements. DHLA is not totally new to the market. Life Extension has a similar product called " R " -Dihydro-Lipoic Acid (http://www.lef.org/newshop/items/item00683.html). I think you might be able to get Andy Cutler to comment on DHLA Nano-plex, if you post your query on " Autism-Mercury " group. There is a large number of parents who are believers, experts of lipoic acid in that group. I would be curious to learn about their comments as well as Cutler's. In the past Cutler commented that R-ALA (the pure, natural form of lipoic acid) is of marketing hype and does not work better than ALA, which consists of the R " natural " and S " synthetic " form in a 50/50 ratio. I could not believe in this comment, as I am a big fan of the naturals and believe that our body recognizes and utilizes the natural nutrients better than the synthetic ones. I used R-ALA to replace ALA in my chelation mix and run 3 UTMs over the course of two months. I found that Cutler was right. The level of my son's metal excretion in urine was just about the same, when using R-ALA. ALA and R-ALA make no difference at least from the prespective of metal chelation. I am now back to use ALA again, because it is cheaper. DHLA Nano-plex is not a 100% natural product as claimed, because it contains some S form (synthetic) lipoic acid. It does look very interesting from this product info: http://www.healthproductsusa.net/30nano-dhlainfo_health.htm. It seemingly sounds promising. However, I would be cautious as most of the studies cited for the health benefits quoted there are done on ALA as powerful antioxidant not on DHLA. There are also online reports of DHLA acting as a pro-oxidant under certain circumstances. I feel that more studies are needed to understand DHLA's chemical action and if there is any are potential side-effect. Guest guest
Heidi and Limin: Thank you so much for your honest opinions of this product. I agree with you both, especially about being very conservative about supplements I use for my son - and I LOVE the history and testimonials to back up the decision before giving it to my son. I am very leery of the " sales and marketing " people out there that claim to have the magic ingredient or magic supplement. I bought into that concept when we first started biomed - and learned the hardway that there is NO magic supplement. How I wish there was! I have bags full of " Stuff " that didnt work, both reputable and " magical " . Sometimes I feel a little desparate - desparate enough to believe what I read, such as the info on the DHLA Nano Plex. I dont feel that I have done enough to help my son (I am not as aggressively treating him as others do), because even though I want recovery, I am so afraid of the negative side effects that sometimes cause regression. Unfortunately, the time keeps ticking away, and now my son is 8 years old and still the same. I am envious of those parents who really jump into biomed and see those improvements. I have never jumped into anything - I am way too cautious. That is why I love the fact that parents can describe to people on these groups what they are doing, how their kids responded, and it is actual accounts of what happened - not some sales person talking. Thanks again - I wish you all the best!
