Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I just had surgery on 6/28 at DHMC. My CMT is so advanced that I was looking at life in a wheelchair. Dr. Hecht is working on keeping me out of it for awhile longer. I will have my second ankle fusion in January. Good luck with the kids, hope they are able to help you. Guest guest
Hi Hope! When I was first diagnosed with CMT they told me I had a 50/50 chance of ending up in a wheelchair. Well, I am now 38 and I do not expect to end up there until I am 80 :-) Our minds and the way we think sometimes helps us. Other times we need to do what is required. I use a wheel chair for walking a lot to conserve energy. I swim, and walk a lot and bicycling. Yet, we all know that CMT even the same type affects us all differently. We must strive for the positive outlook. I have my days too, yet it is about walking that balance. I wish you all the luck with your life and CMT and anytime you want someone to listen I am here.
