I have trying to compile info on the Valkion and Cold Laser therapies so we would have a basic research document available. Since Lorina has posted about the Valkion, thought I'd post up my latest compilation of research. I can not thank Dr. Klinghardt, Dr Amy, Dr. , Lorina, Limin, Natasa and many others as we worked off-lists to gather info and research in our late night quests for researching what would be best for our children. There is not a lot of info out there right now on it's use with ASD but if you break down some of the cellular level issues, it really supports this treatment. I've researched, including some off-list e-mails with ASD moms happy with it's use with their children. Hope this info will help someone wanting to look into this further. The Valkion is expensive, but

less than what the HBOT would have run us, and we can use it from home...which is a major plus for this busy family.

I am looking forward to hearing Dr. Klinghardt and other highly regarded professionals demonstrate and talk about several things like the Valkion an cold laser treatments at his upcoming Autism 2008 conference.

http://www.klinghardt.org/workshops.asp

Thought I'd post some of the research our group has been putting together to help anyone else that may be considering this. I personally appreciated the international medical studies from tyoma.com that I "*" below, especially noteworthy to our ASD children

------Dr. Klinghardt's - Copied from BioTools:

"Energy Medicine for Autistic ChildrenPractical Non-Biochemical Solutions, Specific Developments andRecommendations by Dietrich Klinghardt, MD,PhD1. Increase Restorative SleepThe Problem: within 3 feet of the power supply in the bedroom wall -and within 1.6 miles of a cell phone transmitter - children haveseverely disturbed EEGs, decreased melatonin production and blockedactivity of detoxification enzymes in the brain, gut, liver andkidneys The solution: the "Sleep Sanctuary" technology from BioToolsevolved from the German teaching of the Institute of Baubiology. Wehave created an esthetic Faraday cage which decreases the EMFexposure of the child to one tenthousands– a silver coated mosquitonet and grounding cloth Result: instantly normalization of the childs EEG, Heart RateVariability and numerous hormonal, cytokine and other lab parameters. It improves blood and tissue

oxygenation and tissue ph. Permanentbehavioral and mental improvements in the child are dramatic andobserved within days to weeks 2. Heal the brain The problem: The astrocytes are toxic. The blood brain barrier isstuck open. The mirror neurons – responsible for normal emotional andmental responses – are toxic and dysfunctional. There is no groomingof excessive neurons, etc. The Solutions: 1.The "Valkion": a Swedish device which creates energized "singletoxygen" for inhalation. This energized oxygen crosses the blood brainbarrier rapidly and effectively. The problem: in ASD children with Lyme disease, mycoplasma, moldand viral infections the endothelium is lined with fibrin, delayingthe delivery of oxygen to the tissues from 2 seconds to 5.4 minutes. The tissues are oxygen starved. This is the most effective device todeliver oxygen and energy to the brain, to the

spinal chord and thekidneys. In our work with ASD children this is comparable with - ormore effective - then HBOT. 2. Place the "Light Shield" over the brain. The visiblemonochromatic light stimulates brain function via the visceral-cutaneous reflex. The invisible IR light penetrates the skull andreaches 7 cm into the brain - reaching most of the higher cognitiveareas easily. It increases bloodflow, venous and lymphatic drainage, metabolic activity of the brain cells, and activates the intrinsicdetox mechanisms of the brain. The "light shield" also increases> medication uptake, a most important issue that has been overlookedby most. It also has a strong direct anti-viral effect and isphototactic – it strongly attracts NK cells into the illuminatedareas. The result: the brain recovers faster, with less side effects.Appropriate treatments that did not seem to work before, can work

nowrapidly and profoundly. 3. Increase the Filtration Rate of the Kidneys The Problem: the basal membranes of the kidney become inflamed andswollen as soon as mercury, lead and other toxins are filtered duringchelation therapy. The nephrons stay in an allergic, poorlyfiltrating state, as long as the metal mobilizing medication is given The solutions: 1. the BioTools "Light Shield". By placing the device over thekidneys normal filtrating function resumes within less then an hour. The device should be used daily during active detox and during allcrises. 2. The Swiss "Toxaway" electric foot bath uses an electrochemicalprocess to stimulate the kidney and liver meridian at the feet toeffectively increase toxin elimination activity of both organs. Thereis also direct active lymphatic excretion of toxins across the solesof the feet. This device is superior to other

comparable instruments(the secret is in the electrodes) Result: dramatic shortening of the overall treatment time andimproved success rate in stubborn cases. It minimizes thefeared "healing crisis" after starting a chelation program 4. Improve phase-I and phase-II liver enzyme activity Problem: most of the ASD children have impaired liver enzymefunction at different locations (p450, acetylation, sulfation,glutathione-S-transferase) Solution: the BioTools "Light Shield". By placing the device overthe kidneys ATP inside the cells increases significantly and the celldoes its job more effectively. The light also turns on the cellorganelles: the peroxisomes, the mitochondria, the Golgi apparatus, etc. It also enlarges the bile ducts, the arterioles and the lymphducts in the liver by blocking the sympathetic nervous system andstimulating the parasympathetics. Result: in

spite of numerous gene polymorphisms of the detox genes, the child starts eliminating neurotoxins and heavy metals at ratescomparable or superior to normal children."

A google search of "Valkion", "activated air", "singlet oxygen" and

"oxygen therapies" is a good thing when looking into this.

Department of Surgery and Plastic Surgery,Bioenergetics Group, Wallenberg Laboratory, Sahlgrenska UniversityHospital, Gštenborg University, Gštenborg S-143-45, SwedenSkeletal muscle viability is crucially dependent on the tissuelevels of its high energy phosphates. In this study we investigated theeffect of the preservation medium Perfadex and illumination with SingletOxygen Energy (SOE). Singlet oxygen can be produced photochemicallyby energy transfer from an excited photosensitizer. The energy emittedfrom singlet oxygen upon relaxation to its triplet state is

capturedas photons at 634 nm and is here referred to as SOE. Rat hind limbrectus femoris muscles were preserved for five hours at 22 ¡C in Perfadex, saline, SOE illuminated Perfadex or SOE illuminated saline. Extractsof the muscles were analysed by 31P NMR. Data were analysed using two-way analysis of variance and are given as mean values (μmol/g dryweight) ± SEM. The ATP concentration was higher (p = 0.006) insaline groups (4.52) compared with Perfadex groups (2.82). Therewas no statistically significant difference in PCr between the salinegroups (1.25) and Perfadex groups (0.82). However, there were higher (p =0.003) ATP in the SOE illuminated groups (4.61) compared with thenon-illuminated groups (2.73). The PCr was also higher (p < 0.0001)in the SOE illuminated groups (1.89) compared with the non-illuminatedgroups (0.18). In conclusion, Perfadex

in this experimental modelwas incapable of preserving the high energy phosphates in skeletalmuscle during 5 hours of ischemia. Illumination with SOE at 634 nm improvedthe preservation potential, in terms of a positive effect on the energystatus of the muscle cell.

Lukes DJ, Skogsberg U, Nilsson A, Lundgren A, Olausson M,Soussi B.Department of Surgery and Transplantation, Wallenberg Laboratory forCardiovascular Research, Gšteborg, Sweden.INTRODUCTION: Singlet oxygen energy (SOE) is a potent inhibitorof reactive oxygen species (ROS) in vitro and in vivo in certain doseranges and can improve the levels of high-energy phosphates (HEP) inconcordant hamster xeno-heart transplants. Some data indicate that acertain degree of cold ischemia (CI) might be beneficial toxenotransplants. We investigated if SOE illumination of hamsterxeno-hearts during moderate cold ischemia (CI) improved graftsurvival.MATERIALS

AND METHODS: Eighteen hearts from Golden Syrian hamsters(70 to 80 g) were subjected to 8 hours of CI in cold (+4 degrees C)saline solution (NaCL, 0.9%) before heterotopic cervical transplantation to rats (220 g). Among the treatment group (n = 8), SOE wasproduced by illuminating the hearts for 10 minutes every 30 minutes withphotons at lambda 634 nm with the Oxylight equipment. Graft function wasevaluated every 6 hours after transplantation with digital examuntil cessation of heart beats. RESULTS: The graft survival ofSOE-illuminated ischemic hamster xenografts was 2.34 +/- 0.56 versus1.15 +/- 0.37 days in the control group (P < .05). All heartsdisplayed immediate graft function versus 70% in the controls (NS).CONCLUSIONS:SOE illumination at lambda 634 nm during moderate cold ischemia (+4degrees C) can improve the survival of concordant hamster xeno-hearttransplants. The exact

mechanism(s) are currently unknown, but theeffect might in part be exerted by a combination of reducedproduction of ROS and increased oxidative phosphorylation.Publication Types: * Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't PMID: 15808696 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Gayatri,

Dr. Klinghardt will be talking about and demonstrating it at his

conference and I was planning on asking him this very question. The

direct report from an ASD mom I've been exchanging e-mails with is

very good. I have also been told by BioTools that they have seen 2

year advances in education in 6 months. I am mainly looking at

benefiting his few remaining health issues. The educational part

would also be big for us (behaviorally and socially he's doing

great. He's in a tough general ed school and educationally he's

still behind 2 years in some subjects. He has problems with reading

comprehension and math, especially story problems. We've come a long

way from 4 years ago being told by the UW he was retarded and would

probably not read. In his recent 3 year re-evaluation they dropped

the retarded label and said they would have never put the old file

and new file together as the same kid. As the only therapy he has

received was 1/2 hour a week of speech this improvement is all

BioMeds!) I'll post more about it in a few weeks after the

conference and reports from the families that ordered it.

I wanted to add to Rita's post here

Dr. Derksen told me that when she was training under Klinghardt they

had a patient (like 1yr old girl ASD) that had seizures. This lil

girl had one while in the office and they used the Valkion on her and

it brought her right out of the seizure with no side effects. Dr. Amy

then went on to tell us that this same family purchased a Valkion and

to this day with this and other treatments she no longer experiences

seizures and is doing excellent to this date.

I must add in what we have seen in 24hrs of getting our Valkion

Zander used the valkion last night for the first time for only 5

mins, this morning he used it for 7 mins. I had left on errands this

morning, and my husband forgot to give Zander his 3 supplements he

takes (which is OK if missed here and there) BUT he didn't receive

his MB-12 shot. We do notice with Zander if he doesn't get it within

4-5 days he starts to have ADD issues. so, this evening when my

hubby got home he was observing Zander had asked if I had given him

his shot today, and I told him NO - thought you gave it to him this

morning...nope. Zander has been more focused we have seen him in a

long time or the day of his MB12 shot. He is very calm and requested

to have the valkion again this evening so he got another treatment

before bed. (making 2 today). We are placing another video up this

evening with Zander using the valkion - much better then yesterdays.

I also want to add, he has had 5 big healthy BM today, and telling me

his tummy feels so much better. ALL looked very healthy. I am sure

its helping him move out toxins he has problems getting out normally.

So this is my report after 24hrs of receiving our valkion.

Hi Gayatri, not Rita but we saw drK in April and he said he had seen

very good results with it for his patients with autism. He didn't

specify numbers and didn't go into details about benefits, but said

repeatedly how good it could be for L, saying 'same or better than hbot,

and safer...'. He is also supporting our application (we are applying to

a children's charity to have Vakion financed, fingers xed!).

Thanks Natasa, and Rita and Lorina. Those accounts sound impressive. I

hope you continue to see good things from it. Sorry if I missed it but

is this in the 3K to 5K range costwise?

Thanks

Gayatri,

Yep....it hurts! 4K. Since we're in WA we also had to add 9.9% sales

tax too because they are head-quartered here (didn't cut the

shipping though because it ships out of CO. We ended up financing

ours...hated to do it with our limited income...but we really felt

he needed it. In the long run it's substantially less than the HBOT

and the whole family can use it. We negotiated a group discount, and

if you do decide to get it, ask for the ASD discount...at least they

give $100 off for ASD kids. They said the price was going to

increase with the dropping $. We had been reviewing and negotiating

this for months, including trying to get ASD studies with both the

Eng3 and Valkion with the help of our doctors...no go...we decided

to not waste anymore time and just bite the bullet. I really hope

Natasa gets her funding!!
