AID=/20070729/BIZ/70729033 PORTSMOUTH — Sprague Energy Corp., a leading energy wholesaler in the Northeastern United States, held its annual charity golf tournament on Monday, July 16, at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in New Castle. The attendees and corporate sponsors of this year's event helped raise $62,140 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Speaking at the dinner following the golf event were McClellan, president and CEO of Sprague Energy, and Knightly. Knightly is the former 2002, 2003 and 2004 State of NH Goodwill Ambassador. " It's just very exciting, " Knightly said, speaking of the event. " It's great to actually see all the people who are helping the MDA and making a difference. " Knightly has Charcot-Marie Tooth, a neurological disorder that causes damage to the peripheral nerves, which carry signals from the brain and spinal cord to muscles, and relay sensations, such as pain and touch, to the brain and spinal cord from the rest of the body. The top-level sponsors for the event were designated as " ace " sponsors. This year's ace sponsors were Bank of America, H.O. Bouchard, Moran Transportation Industries Inc., Citgo, Baker Petrolite, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NH, Advanced Fuel Solutions, and Greater N.Y. Marine Transportation. Founded in 1870 as a supplier of coal and oil, Sprague Energy Corp. has evolved into the eastern seaboard's leading resource for industrial, commercial, space heating and transportation fuels, as well as material handling services. Sprague, based in Portsmouth, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Axel Inc., a member of the Axel Group of Stockholm, Sweden. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency, a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than one million Americans.
