Guest guest
Hi folks, I'm needing to find a nourishing, healing drink that can be made easily and be not too overwhelming for a weak appetite. I make yogurt and that's about as involved a project as I can handle with my fatigue. I haven't been able to find a source of raw milk or cream here in upstate NY yet, so that's another reason I haven't pursued making the lacto-fermented drinks in NT. I'm using Noni juice partly because I can buy it and not have to make it myself! But I need something more " alive " and strengthening. I do love beets and have had some of the store-bought naturally fermented beets from Bio Lacto. I wondered if I juiced that, would it be somewhat equivalent to Beet Kvass? The lacto-fermented veggies themselves are too hard for me to digest as they are. Any suggestions welcomed.
Guest guest
Not sure if it would be beyond your energy level or not, but the bone broths should be excellent. If it is too much for you to make a bone broth, you might try the quick broth that's listed in NT (basically about 8-12 ounces of canned organic broth with about 1 tsp of gelatin added to it). Another option (especially for minerals) is fish or shrimp stocks. They're much quicker and are less work than the bone broths made from chicken or larger boned mammals. They're probably also typically a better source of trace minerals. Kombucha can also be purchased without making it yourself, but the prices I've seen make me feel weak just thinking about it, so that might not be an option... Guest guest
Thanks , I have someone who makes chicken soup for me, the bones simmered many hours, so I figure I'm getting the benefit of that. It's just that there's a limit to how many times a day I can eat that, and I thought a fermented drink would be good for variety. But maybe it's just not practical right now. Guest guest
- Re: fatigue - I just cut a couple of hours off of my sleep needs per night by cutting my carbohydrate intake. Have you tried that to combat fatigue? ----- Original Message ----- From: Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 8:39 AM Subject: Re: Beet Kvass and fermented drinks Thanks , I have someone who makes chicken soup for me, the bones simmered many hours, so I figure I'm getting the benefit of that. Guest guest
Hi Dana, Thanks, I know what a difference cutting the sugar and starches can make, it's amazing. Unfortunately my fatigue is related to a complicated medical history. For now, I'm just trying to see if there are any shortcuts to getting fermented foods, and the beet kvass just seemed the most appealing. Has anyone used the Bio Lacto fermented veggies? I wonder if they're close to what you'd make yourself.

I especially like their saurkraut. As I haven't tried lacto-fermenting vegetables yet, I don't know how they compare to homemade, but I'm not sure I want to bother while I can guy Deep Root stuff. <g> -
