Hi ,

Thanks for welcoming me. My brother in law is setting me up with a computer at

home tomorrow when they come down to see us, ..it's their old one...so that I

can post from home. Then I can do my own research. My sister says I

should not get a Clarion just because she likes them. She says

people do great with all 3 brands. She says she's really curious

about Med El. So am I, and about Nucleus 24. I only know about the

Clarion because of my sister.

That's wonderful that you have good family support and I'd be happy

to answer any questions you may have about the Nucleus 24.

My sister and I took the joruney back to hearing together being

implanted on the same day.. went through everything together...

almost as if we were one at times as we had so many of the same

questions, weird sense of humor and such.

I have one of my best friends who was recently implanted with the

Med El.. I helped her whole family through the process. she got the

Med El and her mom and sister got the Nucleus.. All are enjoying

great success

I also have a nephew who has the Clarion CII Platinum.

He's had it for a couple of years, unfortunately he struggles with

his.. So much that he is seeing my audiologist next month to see if

there's any help or if he is having an implant failure as he was

hearing much better in the beginning. He's one of those who doesn't

have a computer either, so it's difficult for him to find a good

support group. He may end up being reimplanted if all else fails. We

can only hope that maybe a change of audiologists will be good for

him and they can get him a workable mapping.

There's a fellow on this forum who had to have his Med El reimplanted

and he does fantastic with that. He can tell you more about that, and

can fill you in on the Clarion.

As I said earlier.. there are successes and failures in all implant

brands, but for the most part.. The best one to get is the one that

YOU get and the one that works for you. As long as you are satisified

with your choice, you can't go wrong.

Please let me knoow any questions you may have and I will do my best

to answer them.

Take Care,

Silly

  • 4 years later...

thanks so much for the words about protein, and introducing

yourself. I learned about my protein needs from Dr. D'Amo and eating

for my blood type. I haven't seen any evidence based research ever on

CMT and nutritional needs. At best all there is a study or two on

antioxidants like Vitamin E and C with C being in clinical trials now,

finally. There is still so much " not known " about CMT, even by

researchers.
