Ruth,

I had a scooter and have a wheelchair...I much prefer the chair...can get in

tight spots better, have more control, can go farther on a battery

charge...easier to get on a handicapped bus...all the way around a better deal

for me! You will find you have less pain and not so tired...don't fight it...it

is very much of a relief.

Ruth,

Four or five years ago my husband got a Moxie Featherlite Scooter from No

Boundaries in Orange County, CA. [They may have gone out of business as they

don't answer the phone.] Medicare refused to pay for it whereas they would have

paid for a much more expensive wheelchair. They said that a scooter is for

going outside and traveling, which they didn't cover, as opposed to the wheel

chair around the house, which they did cover. It was long enough ago that

this policy may have changed. Since we do a lot of traveling and the scooter

comes apart with the heaviest piece weighing 27 pounds, we wanted a scooter.

That said, the scooter seems to be on its last legs [why I know they don't

answer phone]. I think we are going to have to get another one soon although my

husband is in denial on that subject. We had to replace the battery after it

was tossed around on 13 Egypt Air flights, and American Airlines had to

repair it after obviously dropping it down a flight of stairs.
