Guest guest
Cori: My kids did this get this temporarily from time to time. Is he having any other symptoms? I remember green poops being associated with milk and bile. Not sure the details. I have not used all those products you mention. Hopefully, someone here has and can lend their experience, if they caused green poops or not. I think I remember green poops being associated with metal-detoxing with my kids. Anyone else see this? Guest guest
I have NOT heard green stools associated with food intolerances, particularly. I have heard it much more commonly associated with rapid transit time (bile) and possibly bacterial growth... did a little googling and found the following at http://altmedicine.about.com/od/gettingdiagnosed/a/green_stools.htm " The liver constantly a bright green fluid called bile that is secreted into the small intestine or stored in the gallbladder. Bile is needed to absorb fats and fat soluble vitamins. It also helps to soften stools and is responsible for giving stools their characteristic brown color. As bile makes its way through the intestines, it progressively changes color from green to yellow to brown, due to the action of bacteria in the large intestine on the bile salts. Green stool often indicates that food has passed through the intestines faster than normal (called decreased bowel transit time), before it could be changed from green to brown. Diarrhea decreases bowel transit time, so any condition that causes diarrhea can result in green stool. Other causes of green stool include: * Laxative use * Antibiotic use * Medication side effects * Food poisoning * Celiac disease * Ulcerative colitis * Crohn's disease * Malabsorption * Irritable bowel syndrome * Bacterial overgrowth * Infectious diarrhea - especially salmonella and giardia * Traveler's diarrhea * Cancer Foods and supplements that can cause green stool include: # Chlorophyll # Iron supplements # Algae > > > > Sorry, this is a gross question...My son started Nutramedix Cumanda, > > Pinella, Burber and Trace Minerals the end of May. Guest guest
When we were heavily detoxing viruses about 2 years ago we consistently saw green poops over a 4-5 month period. My son was on homeopathics and was on chlorella as well, and we were doing the epsom salt baths. I think he was detoxing and we were working to bring his sulphate into range. Anytime my son is battling viruses his need for sulphur goes up. You may want to up his sulphur and see if that makes a difference. We also upped taurine later, and adequate taurine will make your poop brown. The dose was between 1 and 3 gms and we split it into 2 x a day. I have a seizures son however and he was supposed to be at the upper end of that range.
