I strongly agree with you my 4 yr old has been in AFOs for 2 years now at least

12 hours a day. but she has a near perfect gait in them she doesnt fall unless

she trips or slips and before AFOs her ankles were just givening and numerous

times while walking and with the drop foot she was tripping over them so the

braces have helped her 100% percent. Only thing is she is so active and grows so

fast that every 6 months is too long she starts out growing them by 4 and

insurance only pays every 6 months.

I am extremely happy and thankful to report on my new custom carbon

fiber AFOs made by Custom Composite Manufacturing in Rhode Island

(http://www.cc-mfg.com/afo.html) and obtained through my Orthotist

R. Sardo, C.P.O, of Valley Institute of Prosthetics and

Orthotics in Newhall, California (keith@...).

I have been wearing plastic AFOs for six years until recently when my lower legs

twisted and turned to mush. I have only been wearing these new braces two days,

but I can feel my balance and energy returning. It feels so good to be able to

take a step without feeling like I am going to crumble. I have been using two

forearm crutches. I feel I may not need them soon.

Custom Composite Manufacturing works with three different Orthotics offices in

California and also works with other orthotic offices throughout the country.

These carbon braces are like Mitch Warner's Helios but cost little more than the

custom plastic AFOs. It was one of you who turned me on to Custom Composite

anufacturing, which is why I am so thankful to be a part of this CMT group. If

I could jump and down with joy, I would!
